PIRAMIDE 3.5
Viggiano is famous for two very different things: the harp and the sanctuary of the Black Madonna on the Sacro Monte. We help craftspeople, businesses and activities in the Agri Valley get found, tell what they do and sell beyond Basilicata.
To tell online The Viggiano harp and the Black Madonna
Viggiano's musical tradition is tied to building and playing the harp and goes back to the Kingdom of Naples: already in the first half of the 18th century Giuseppe Antonini collected accounts of Viggiano harp players. The Viggiano harp festival is held in the first days of August.
For those who build, restore or teach music, a website is the shop window that lets musicians, collectors and schools find you from far away: instrument pages, the maker's story, a calendar of courses and events, direct contacts. If you want to sell accessories or instruments, we build an online store with payments and shipping in Italian and English.
The sanctuary of the Black Madonna stands on the Sacro Monte at 1,725 metres and can be reached on foot along a paved path of about two kilometres. On the first Sunday of May the statue is carried in procession for about twelve kilometres and a thousand metres of climb; on the first Sunday of September the route is made in reverse. In 1991 Pope John Paul II crowned the Madonna Patroness and Queen of the Lucanian peoples.
If you welcome pilgrims and visitors, with restaurants, accommodation and services, you benefit from a page with dates, programme, directions and where to eat. Those who live far away and want to return for the feast find everything in one place.
Viggiano stands at 1,023 metres, on the ridge of the upper Agri Valley, and lies entirely within the Lucanian Apennines Val d'Agri Lagonegrese National Park; woods cover about 35% of its territory. For local businesses and professionals, a clear business website in Italian and English is the simplest way to present yourself to clients and contractors beyond the valley.
